HUNT BALL

A COLOURFUL GATHERING One of the most important social events of the year in North Canterbury—the Brackenfield Hunt ballwas held last night in the East Eyreton Hall, where considerably more than 200 guests enjoyed a very well arranged and most successful gathering. The committee had carried out an appropriate and effective scheme of decorations.

The stage was protected with a real gorse hedge, and entrance was gained through a small white gate; the ballroom was gay with freize and posters portraying well-known hunting personalities. These amusing drawings and paintings were the work of Misses Goya Sapio and June Anderson. The men of the hunt wore distinctive green lapels on . their coats, and the bandsmen wore uniforms of green—the club’s colour'. The supperroom at the hall was converted into a lounge with carpets and comfortable chairs, and supper was served in an adjoining marquee. Members of the organising committee were Mesdames Geoffrey Dixon. Darvel Poulton, John Tutton, Misses Jean Anderson, Mary Chapman, Marguerite Dixon (secretary), Kathleen Gould, Barbara Macfarlane, Josephine Smith. Messrs R. Parsons, E. G. O. Rutherford, and C. Greenwood.
