ELECTIONS IN DENMARK

POSSIBILITY OF COALITION (Rec. 10 p.m.) COPENHAGEN, September 6. A Coalition Government is a strong possibility in Denmark after the elections yesterday. The ruling Socialist Party barely -held its own, although it remained the country’s biggest party. No party won an absolute majority and the Liberals apparently still hold the balance of power. The likely seat distribution in the new Parliament will be: Socialists .. ..59 Liberals .. .. 12 Conservatives .. ..27 Agrarians .. .. 32 Single Tax .. .. 12 Communists .. 7 Earlier reports said that drizzling rain kept Danes from the polls, and a little more than half of the 2,500,000 possible votes were expected to be recorded. The Communist campaign has centred on the demand “Denmark out of the .Atlantic Pact.” The party lost nine of its 18 seats in the 1947 elections. Most observers expect them to lose more seats this time.
