The Primate of New Zealand, Archbishop West-Watson, has returned from the North Island where, after attending the annual meeting of the Church of the province of New Zealand, he whs present at the centenary celebrations of the Te .Ante College and the laying of the foundation-stone of the new chapel at Hukarere school. The Dean of Christchurch (the Very Rev. A. K. Warren), who has also been attending the celebrations, is expected to return to Christchurch to-morrow. Mr Emil A. Kekich will succeed Mr Osborn S. Watson, ..as Commercial Attache at the United States Embassy in Wellington. Mr Watson has been at the Embassy since 1945 fend is due to retire from the service. Mr Kekich will arrive in Wellington in November. Mr and Mrs Watson will leave Auckland for the United States by the Aorangi on October 10. — (P.A.)
Mr Strack, B.Sc., B.A, a former student of Auckland University College. will attend the International Congress of Mathematicians which will open at Harvard University, Massac“usetts, to-day He has been appoint- • Domi nion’s representative by the University of New Zealand. Mr Strack is at Yale University. He left New Zealand last year under the Fulbright scheme- and gained his B.A. degree in America.—(P.A.)
