RUGBY UNION FINAL
Sir,—Once again the Rugby Union management committee has shown its complete disregard for the interest of club football when it has decided to play a senior club premier final when the two clubs concerned have been very seriously weakened in their playing material. Obviously the Rugby Union, as usual, is out to get as big a gate as possible for the Ranfurly Shield fixture, by playing this so-called final as a curtain-raiser. The least that the union can do now is to enable B. A. Simpson, the third emergency back, and Teague, the Technical forward, also an emergency, to play for their clubs in this all-important final. Club premiership honours are more important to the clubs concerned than any Ranfurly Shield honours.—Yours, etc., G. BENNETT. August 29, 1950.
