“ SPRING SCHOOL ” “China To-day” was the subject of an address given yesterday by the home director of the China inland Mission (the Rev. H. W. Funnell) at the “spring school” being held by the New Zealand Church Missionary Society at Tyndale House. Missionary enterprise was being discouraged under the new regime in China, Mr Funnel] said. The Very Rev. M. L. Wiggins, provost of Dodoma Cathedral, Central Tanganyika, who is at present on furlough in New Zealand,* conducted a prayer session for Africa and spoke of the need for more Christian workers there. A Bible study on the Second Epistle of St. Peter was taken by the Rev. W. A. Orange. In the evening the Rev. K. Gregory, vicar of Brightwater, and diocesan missioner for the diocese of Nelson, spoke on “The Need for Witness.” ' After the evening session talks on their call to mission work were given by the Rev. H. E. Thomson, who will leave New -Zealand soon for Tanganyika, and the Rev. D. L. Aiken, who will sail for Pakistan in October.
