MALE NURSES
ACCOMMODATION PROBLEM The existing accommodation for male nurses at Burwood Hospital was limiting the inflow of trainees, the hospital committee reported to the North Canterbury Hospital Board yesterday. “It is considered desirable that if possible the whole of the training should be given at Burwood Hospital, and provided accommodation difficulties can be overcome your committee has approved such a recommendation,” said the report. As a regulation governing male nurses and trainees has not yet been issued, the board decided that from the commencing date of the present class the wage for trainees should be £7 6s 5d for the first six months and £7 Ils 5d thereafter, with overtime additional. It also decided that overtime should be paid to registered male nurses.
