MATCH AGAINST WEST INDIES
REMARKABLE BOWLING BY R. S. RAMADHIN (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) LONDON, Aug. 19. Gloucestershire was dismissed for 69 in its first innings against the West Indies cricket team to-day. The West Indian spin bowler, R. S. Ramadhin, accomplished one of his most remarkable bowling performances of the summer by taking Gloucestershire’s last eight wickets in 40 deliveries for 15 runs.
The West Indies had lost two wickets for 115 at stumps.
COUNTY CRICKET RESULTS
LONDON. August 18. Rain interfered with *most county cricket matches, but Lancashire maintained its commanding lead in the
championship table by winning outright. Results: Lancashire. —First innings 281. Hampshire.—First innings 96 (Tattersail seven for 39) and followed on 109 (Berry four for 14). Lancashire won by an innings and 76 runs.
Somersetshire.—First innings 173 (Gimblett 87; Young six for 35). Middlesex.—First innings 72 for one wicket. The match was drawn.
Nottinghamshire.—First innings 118 (Hollies seven for 40); second innings 349 (Winrow 99). Warwickshire.— First innings 200 (Gardner 80; Butler five for 53) • second innings 89 (Butler seven for 31). Nottinghamshire won by 178 runs. Kent.—First innings 100 (Wardle six for 20); second innings 123. Yorkshire. —First innings 337 (Wilson 114). Yorkshire won by an innings and 114 runs.
Sussex. —First innings 350 for four wickets declared (Cox not out 140; C. Oakes 128); second innings none for 9. Northamptonshire.—First innings 299 (Oldfield 84). The match was drawn.
Worcestershire. —First innings 205 (Kenyon. 81): second innings 71 for five wickets declared. Gloucestershire.— First innings 70 for six wickets declared: second innings 11 for five wickets. The match was drawn.
