Men Going Into Battle SOME ARE WORLD WAR VETERANS

Fresh American troops from the United States landed in South Korea to-day, reports Reuter’s correspondent at American headquarters in Korea. ~ e y. ar e the first to arrive from the United States since the invasion began. They will bolster the sagging defence lines of the tired American and South Korean divisions, against whom more North Korean troops and tanks are now swinging in an effort to push home their coastal dagger thrust at the main American supply base, Fusan The United Press correspondent says the new troops will be in combat in a few hours. They are Army infantrymen.
The disembarking troops were grim. Twenty-five per cent, of them are veterans of the Second World War. A veteran of the Korean war remarked, “Never have so many looked so good to so few. We should now be able to hold them.”
A chaplain on the dock said Mass and heard the confessions of troops as they prepared for battle.
