VITAL STATISTICS
A decrease in the number of births is shown in the vital statistics for July, issued by the Registrar of Births, Deaths and Marriages. Christchurch (Mr A. A. Besley). The figures for July, 1950, with those for July. 1949, in parenthesis, are as follows:—births, 312 (378); deaths, 209 (185); marriage notices, 103 (100); marriages by registrar, 32 (22).
The figures for the first seven months with those of the corresponding period last year in parenthesis, are:—births, 2408 (2441); deaths, 1109 (971); marriage notices. 1026 (995); marriages by registrar. 225 (207). The vital statistics at Rangiora for July, with those for July, 1949, in parenthesis. were:—births, 7 (7); deaths, 6 (7); marriages, 0 (2).
