Sir, —The shadow of events in the East underlines the supreme urgent need of immigration to build up our manpower resources. Housing is the obvious bottleneck. Scandinavians, Danes and Dutch are highly desirable. Sweden exports excellent fire and borer-proof prefabricated wooden dwellings. Would not many families in the countries mentioned be delighted to sell their homes, buy a Swedish “prefab” and come out —boots and all? Mr Holland’s excellent suspensory loan could be applied to freight charges, etc. The house, on arrival, should stand a suitable mortgage, State or otherwise, to cover section, erection, etc., though some would erect their own. and urban sections are comparatively cheap. Suitable naturalised Dutch and Danes could be sent home for interviews and negotiations.
