N.Z. TEAM FOR 1954 EMPIRE GAMES
ASSOCIATION DECIDES ON LEVY OF 6D (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. June 28. All bowlers in New Zealand will be levied 6d a year until 1954 to finance the best team available for the British Empire Games in Canada. This was decided at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Bowling Association in Wellington to-day. A remit from Auckland suggested a levy of not more than Is.
Mr J. »R. Smith (Christchurch) said that a levy of 6d would give about £3200 in four years.
The profits of the British Empire Games in Auckland were £20,000. said Mr W.
F. Hadwin (Wellington). “If we attempt to help ourselves we will get a portion of that when we want to go to Canada.”
