MALAN REGIME ATTACKED

NONE UROPEANS MEET IN DURBAN U.N. CALLED UPON TO TAKE ACTION (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) CAPE TOWN. May 28The president of the South African Indian Congress (Dr. G. M. Naicker) at a public meeting of non-white organisations in Durban to-day, caked upon the United Nations to outlaw th a South African Government. Dr. Naicker said the congress believed that the Malan Government's policy was "a serious challenge to world peace.” Conditions in the Union were rapidly being cieated which would result in the same global problem that Hitler created in Germany. "It is, therefore, the duty ol' the United Nations, which has repeatedly condemned the racial polices of the Union Government, to outlaw the Malan Government from the family of democratic nations.” Dr. Naicker said. The Africans, Indians, and other nonwhites who attended —the meeting passed a resolution describing the Group Areas and Unlawful Organisations Bills as a direct attack on the “remaining vestiges of the liberties” of all South Africans. The Group Areas Bill was called a “sinister design to imprison the entire non-white population in separate racial ghettoes and locations, where they v’ill be reduced to the status of poverty-stricken labourers and serfs.”

Both measures were the last step in a master plan to establish a Fascist police State in a country in which an overwhelming majority ol people, both white and non-white. would be subjected to the tyranny of Gestapo rule, said the resolution.

Support was given to the decision of the African National Congress to observe a national day of protest, “when all will be called upon to refrain from working as a tangible demonstration of the people's opposition to the oppressive policy of the" Government.”
