PLUNKET BALL AT KAIKOURA
There was a carnival atmosphere about the Plunket Society’s eighth annual ball which was held in the Drill Hail. Kaikoura, on Friday evening. More than 290 people representative of the district from Clarence Bridge to Kundalee and Claverley attended. With many mirrors and box vases, nassed mixed flowers and autumn foliage. the decorative scheme was completed by white tinselled streamers hanging from the ceiling. Snowball, streamer and confetti dances ! c' Ito the gaiety of the scene. A wakzing competition was won by Mr and Mrs A. S. Button. A savoury supper was served by a com mit too led by the presidont 'Mrs N. A. Souirc) and the secretary 'Mrs V. J. Corbett). The serving of hot souD at the conclusion of the ball was a very popular innovation. Music for the dancin *. was sunnl'cd by Colin Campbell’s band from i hn«’ church and extras were played by members of the Kaikoura Railways Social Club band. Messrs A. Mathm' <piano). J. W. Garlick (saxophone), and S. Stuckey 'guitar). Mr C. V. Ritchie was master of ceremonies.
