WAIMAKARIRI RIVER FLOODING IN THE WHITE’S BRIDGE AREA.—TOP LEFT: Flood waters from the Waimakariri river spread across the road about half a mile from rhe main highway bridge. The course of the river is on the far side of the belt of trees. TOP RIGHT: Looking down a side road by Mr Link Wright’s property near White’s Bridge. The dark object at the water’s edge in the middle distance is a horse which was killed on Saturday night when it came in contact with a live wire while being ridden across the road by Mr Wright. BOTTOM LEFT: Mr Wright’s house, which had to be evacuated. This is the second time that the property has been flooded. BOTTOM RIGHT: Another White’s Bridge home which was evacuated.
