MR LIE RETURNS TO U.S.
“EUROPE WANTS ONLY PEACE” SPEECH TO U.N. WORKERS AT LAKE SUCCESS _ , NEW YORK, May 25. Europe wanted only peace, said the Secretary-General of the United Nations (Mr Trygve Lie) at Lake Success to-day. He was addressing 3000 members of the United Nations Secretariat who gave him an enthusiastic welcome on his return from Europe. Mr Lie said: “Europeans want ?v aC 4 e “ oo i h tho?e in the Eastern and Western European countries. That is the aim of the United Nations—peace and no more cold war. It will take time. Be patient. The time will come when nobody will talk of a cold war hnd all nations will talk only of peace." J Mr Lie said he had found nothing but support for his peace efforts in Europe. He had received stacks of letters from mothers. “This is one thing I could understand. ho added. “There was one thing in the minds of those mothers—no more war in this world.”
