The March series of London wool sales closed to-day with prices for almost all descriptions at their highest point. The final catalogues totalled 17,600 bales, Including 9600 bales from Neiy Zealand, and there was a total clearance under widespread competition from both the Home trade and the Continent.

All crossbred fleece and skirtings were in persistent demand, and the advance of 5 per cent, reported yesterday was fully confirmed. The demand for lambs was less insistent than earlier in the series, and consequently prices for them were a little irregular and sometimes easier. A feature of the final sales was the high prices for the small offering of scoured wools from the Ashburton Gorge, shipped on growers’ accounts. Six bales of Merinos realised 122 and 104 d was paid for two lots of halfbreds, comprising seven and 13 bales respectively.
