CZECHS SENTENCE DUTCHMAN

ESPIONAGE TRIAL IN PRAGUE NETHERLANDS PROTESTS . SHARPLY . (Rec. 7 p.m.) PRAGUE, March 5. A Dutch businessman, Johannes Louwers, was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment by the Czech State Court after a three-day trial on charges of espionage, economic sabotage, and helping Czechs to flee the country illegally. Nine Czechs who were on trial with him were also convicted and received sentences ranging from three to 25 years. Holland has sharply protested to Czechoslovakia. The protest said that the Dutch Government had followed “the course of justice in the trial with painful surprise and indignation.” It added that this justice would not be understood in Holland and could have only a harmful influence on relations between the two countries.
