WOMEN’S BASEBALL
N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIPS AT WESTPORT (New Zealand Press Association) WESTPORT. March €. The New Zealand women’s baseball championships opened in Victoria square, Wdstport, to-day, in perfect weather. Twelve teams from various parts of the South Island paraded in Palmerston street this morning and were officially welcomed by the Deputy-Mayor (Mr J Kilkenny). The results were:— Senior.—Otago 6, North Otago 2; Canterbury 17, Buller 3. Senior B Grade.—Canterbury 4, Buller 1; Southland 7, Westland 4; Sout - land 6, Buller 4; Otago 7, Canterbury 3. Juinor.—Otago 16. Buller 7; Canterbury beat Buller by default.
