CABLE FACTORY AT SOCKBURN
BRITISH COMPANY’S PLANS (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON. February 6. Associated British Cables, Ltd., is establishing a cable manufacturing factory at Sockbum, Christchurch. It will employ about 100 persons and will concentrate on making electric wiring for domestic houses. The plant and partly prefabricated building are being shipped from Britain, and it is hoped the factory will be in production by the end of the year. The bulk of New Zealand’s cable supplies are imported from Britain, a lesser quantity is obtained in Australia. and some is manufactured in New Zealand.
