CHURCH TRIALS IN BALKANS
SUGGESTED ACTION BY UNITED NATIONS
APPROACH SOUGHT TO WORLD COURT
(Rec. 8 p.m.) NEW YORK. Oct. 13. The United Nations General Assembly's Second Political Committee today ovei whelmingly recommended
the Assembly to send the Balkan church trials issue to the International Court of Justice for an opinion. The committee adopted by 41 votes to five, with nine abstentions, a resolution introduced by the United States, Bolivia, and Canada.
It issued a mild rebuke to Bulgaria. Rumania, and Hungary for refusing to arbitrate under their peace treaties jharges that the prosecution of Cardnal Mindszenty and other church eaders constituted violations of human •ights. The committee recommended
hat the issue be brought before next ear's session of the Assembly.
