PEENEMUNDE AIRFIELD
REPORTED RESTORATION BY RUSSIANS (Rec. 7 p.m.) LONDON. October 12. “The aerodrome at Peenemunde, Germany’s war time ‘secret weapon’ experimental station, has been completely restored by the Russians,” says Reuter’s Cologne correspondent, quoting a former German Air Force officer who has fled to Cologne from the Soviet zone. “Two hundred Soviet aircraft, including 120 fighters, were now stationed there, said the officer. Numerous Soviet four-engined bombers were expected at the air base, and the nearby fishing village of Fallshagen had been taken over to house Soviet Air Force officers.” FLYING OF UNION JACK BRITISH WAR CEMETERIES IN GERMANY (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, October 13. “British Army headquarters has asked the War Graves Commission to resume the flying of the Union Jack over the 12 British war cemeteries in Germany.” says the Berlin correspondent of the “Daily Express.” “The commission had decided to fly the flag on celebration days only, ‘so that Germans would not be annoyed. ’ ’*
