ST. ANDREWS “The Press" Special Service .IMARU, October 13. The entry of 85 head of fat cattle at the stock sale at St. Andrews to-day in* eluded a few’ pens of turnip wintered cattle of good quality, the demand foi' which was keen. Values appreciated fully £3 a head for prime sorts. Eighteen month to 2 year old steers and heifers were sought after in the store cattle section, the majority of the yearling cattle being passed. The sheep entry was a small one’of shorn wethers and ewe hoggets. the demand for which was very slow and the bulk of the yarding failed to change hands at aucton. Values were:— Fat cattle.—Prime heavy steers. £2B 2s 6d to £3l 12s 6d; prime steers, £22 2s 6d to £27 7s 6d; medium steers, £l7 2s 6d to £l9 17s 6d; light steers, £l4 7s 6d to £l6 7s 6d. Prime heifers, £2O to £23 7s 6d: medium heifers. £l6 2s 6d to £lB 17s 6d; light heifers. £l2 2s 6d to £l4 17s 6d. Prime cows, £l7 7s 6d to £22 7s 6d; lighl to medium cows, £8 2s 6d to £l2 7s 6d. Store cattle.—Bulls, to £ll ss; yearling steers and neifers. £6 7s 6d to £8 2s R d; 2-year steers and heifers, to £l2 7s 6d Store sheep.—Medium wether hogget*-, to 24s 6d; small ewe hoggets, to 30s.
