OUTSTANDING TRIAL BY GOLD SCRIPT SIGNAL OFFICER ALSO PLEASES "The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON, Oct. 13. An outstanding five furlongs by Gold Jcript was the feature of the trials at Crentham this morning. Opulent and 3roie recorded the best time over six furongs, and Signal Officer did well over a nile and a quarter. Demonic, top-weight ind favourite for the Wainui Handicap, mpressed by the manner in which he iompleted half a mile. The work was on the outside of the course proper, and the two-year-old grass, ind both were in excellent order. On the Course Proper Gold Script worked very smoothly vhen he defeated Sweet Spray by four engths over five furlongs in Imin 2 4-ssec. Sold Script finished full of running and :ompleted the last half-mile in 49sec, and :he last three furlongs in 35 4-ssec. He las arrived at Trentham in splendid condition and should perform well in the Shorts Handicap on Saturday. Sweet Spray was not ridden out in the last furlong. but her effort was rather disappointing, even allowing for the brilliance >f her companion. Lady Jane ran half a mile in 50 2-ssec. She is a two-year-old filly by Foxbridge put of Fandangle, and is trained at Ric?arton by J. S. Shaw. Suppression and Teresina were not required to do their best while running pa If a mile in 54 l-ssec. Suppression has improved since she won a division of the Hastings Stakes. Fille d’Honneur completed half a mile in 50 4-ssec, the last three furlongs taking 37 2-ssec. Gay Stroller and Reveller were together four lengths in front of Veine d’Or at the end of a mile in Imin 46sec, the last half in 53 4-ssec. Gay Stroller has benefited from his two outings this season. Apex, Headline, and Zenith were abreast at the end of half a mile in 50sec, the final three furlongs in 36 4-ssec. Headline had the worst of the weights, but he was travelling as easily as his companions. He has done well sihee he ran second in a division of the Hastings Stakes. Demonic’s Effort Without doing his best. Demonic defeated Outlook by a length over half a mile in 50sec. the final three furlongs taking 37sec. Demonic is at the peak of condition. Outlook has improved with his race at Masterton. Brutus ran half a mile in 58sec. He is a ready-made colt and created a good impression when he won on the final day at Dunedin. The best time over half a mile was credited to Wild Note when he finished two lengths in front of Deep Sea in 49sec the last three furlongs in 36 2-ssec. Bonnie King and Dignity were together half a length in front of Billie Girl, with a gap of six lengths to Vonfave at the end of half a mile, the last, three furlongs taking 38 2-ssec. Faithful Lady made up ground to be almost on terms with Gay Claire at the end of five furlongs in Imin 4 4-ssec, the last four in 51 3-ssec. Opulent and Broie were together throughout six furlongs in Imin 16 2-ssec, the last half mile taking 51 2-ssec. Riccarton Candidates Over the same distance Trinidad and Beaumaris recorded Imin 17sec. came home from the half mile in 51sec. Pastel jumped away inside the half mile' and showed speed to run home from the three furlongs in 37sec. Western Front, with a big advantage in weight, finished a length in front of Kartikeya at the end of a mile in Imin 42 3-ssec, the last half taking 51 2-ssec. Flying Sovereign and Pierre pleased by the manner in which they left half a mile behind in 59 2-ssec, the last three furlongs in 36 2-ssec. Flying Sovereign is well forward for her engagement in the Shorts Handicap. Rising Tide was doing slightly better than Lady Ella at the end of six furlongs in Imin 16 4-ssec, the last four in 51sec, and three in 38 2-ssec. Langham’s Work Langham was travelling comfortably alongside Elofa at the end of six furlongs in Imin 17sec, the last half mile in 50sec. Survivor ran five furlongs in Imin 4 3- the last half mile taking 50 4-ssec. He picked up the two-year-old Ching King at the two furlongs, and. they were together passing the post. Angell was too good for The Rip over seven furlongs, finishing two lengths in front in Imin 32sec. The last half mile took 52 3-ssec. Attracted Interest Signal Officer attracted attention over a mile and a quarter, running the last mile in Imin 43sec. He picked up Helio at the six furlongs and Julius Caesar at the half mile. The last seven furlongs were run in Imin 30 J-ssec, the last four in 50 2-ssec, and the last three in 37 3-5 sec. Signal Officer was half a length in front of Julius Caesar, with Helio three lengths away at the end. Signal Officer has never worked better at Trentham than he did this morning. Bonnie Charlie was not asked fo.r his best while running three .furlongs in 39 4- He has lightened up slightly after his race at Masterton. Cloudy Range was doing a little better* than Double Bid at the end of an easy six furlongs in Imin 19 4-ssec, the last three in 38 4-ssec. Way Home showed a good turn of speed when he completed half a mile in 50 4-sscc. He came home from the three furlongs in 37 l-ssec. Pilfer and Foxmorn were together throughout seven furlongs in Imin 31 4-ssec, the last four taking 53 l-ssec, and three 40sec. Distinction and Indian Song were on terms at the end of a mile in Imin 45sec, the last half in 53 3-ssec, and the final three furlongs in 38 4-ssec. Pleasing Gallop Dennis O’Kelly pleased when he beat Peaseblossom by a neck, with Vitamin three length's away at the end of five furlongs in Imin 3sec, the final half mile in 49 l-ssec. Gold Song and Ara Chief ran the last three of six furlongs in 39sec. Renowned showed that she had taken no harm from her race in the Masterton Cup when she left a mile behind in Imin 43 2-ssec. She ran the last half in 50 3-ssec, and the final three furlongs in 37 2-ssec. Robin Glen was travelling very easily six lengths in front of John Halifax at the qnd of three furlongs in 37sec. Robin Glen has done well since she won a double at the Hawke’s Bay meeting, and she will be one of the favourites for the Wellesley Stakes. Talent was doing better than Myfox at the conclusion of five furlongs in Imin 6 l-ssee, the last half mile taking 51 1-5 sec. Brenlock was not at top while running six furlongs in Imin 19sec, the last four being run in 52 2-ssec. Detain, and High Order were companions over seven furlongs. running the last four in 51 l-ssec, and the three in 40 3-ssec. On the two-year-old track, Dark Courage impressed more than Boleigh over half a mile, running the last three furlongs in 37 2-ssec. Schooling Bout Nepeta gave a satisfactory display over two hurdles in the centre of the track. Gold Song gave a better display than Ara Chief and Erinmore in a school over four hurdles. Erinmore ran about at the first two. but improved. Omega again gave a good display over i four hurdles.
