CALEDONIAN SOCIETY’S COMPETITIONS
CHAMPIONSHIPS DECIDED The Canterbury Caledonian Society’s annual competitions were concluded last evening in the Caledonian Hall. The senior championship was won by Aeneas Chisholm with 342 points, and Norma Bird was the runner-up with 334 points. Laurel Watts, with 327 points, won the intermediate championship, and Josephine Pickens was the runner-up with 320 points. The junior championship was won by Isobel Russell with 319 points, and Jeanette Ellis, with 307 points, wafc the runner-up The following are the results of last evening’s events:— Highland Fling (1949 pupils).—Gordon Inglis 1, Averil Hensley 2, Marion Reed 3. Seann Triubhais. —Isobel Russell 1, Delphine Kavanagh 2, Jeanette Ellis 3. Sailor’s Hornpipe (open).—Norma Bird 1, Laurel Watts 2. Margaret Smith 3. Scottish Song (under 12 years).—Carol Chaplin t. Gary Fraser 2. Jill Fagan 3. Scottish Song (12 years and under 15 years).—Patricia Sawtell 1, Jeanette Ellis 2 Scottish Song (15 years and over).— Rita Stanley 1. Jean Telfer 2, Jean Moffat 3. Irish Jig (open).—Norma Bird 1. Betty Wilson 2, Josephine Pickens and Rita Stanley (equal) 3. Irish Reel (open).—Margaret Smith 1, Betty Wilson 2. Laurel Watts 3.
