TIMARU DOCTOR RETURNS
COURSE IN SURGERY IN LONDON "The standard of anaesthetics used in Britain now has advanced beyond all recognition,” said Dr. J. C. McKenzie. superintendent of the Timaru Hospital, who arrived at Lyttelton yesterday afternoon from London in the motor-ship Karamea. Dr. McKenzie left for England eight months ago to further his studies and took a course in a special branch of surgery. Dr. McKenzie, who studied at various teaching hospitals in London, said that surgery in general had made many advances since he was there in 1933. Dr. McKenzie said that it was inevitable that there would be many changes in London since his previous visit. He gathered the impression that the work of restoration had been held up but the city was now gradually being cleared up. New Zealanders still received the same great welcome in England.
