AUCTION OF LOST LUGGAGE

MANY SALES AT CHEAP PRICES Scarves, gloves, umbrellas, suitcases, overcoats and hats were the main articles at an auction of lost luggage held by the Railways Department yesterday. The bargains of the auction were a silver fox fur (£3 10s) and a pair of skis and sticks (355). Scarves, in bundles of four, went from 3s to ss. Most of them were in good order. Gloves, leather and woollen. in bundles of four, sold from 3s to Ils. Three umbrellas sold for Us. and in single lots prices ranged from 10s to 20s. Suitcases, some containing clothing and effects, met with a ready sale, and prices were cheap, ranging from two or three shillings up to about 30s. Bicycles on the whole were in poor condition, and the top price was £5 for a woman’s sports model. A new baby’s chair sold at £l. and a bag containing trotting gear sold at £2 ss. Other articles included an anchor (10s). a box concertina (£1), two women's coats (2s 6d). three school bags (Ils), gramophone (£2 ss). a dog box (Is). Boy Scouts’ flags and signs (ss). bundle of four cushions (2s). a fire extinguisher (7s 6d), three walking-sticks (2s), and a woman’s plastic coat (9s).
