BACON AND HAM
NEW PRICE ORDER ANNOUNCED A report yesterday that there would be an increase of 3d in the retail price of ham and bacon was confirmed yesterday by the district officer of the Frice Tribunal in Christchurch (Mr H K Larsen). Full details of the price order are not yet to hand, but it is expected that the increase will be similar to the increase in wholesale prices, which came into operation on Monday. v . Grocers in Christchurch received a circular from the Canterbury and Westland districts of the New Zealand Association of Bacon Curers early this week, in which the new wholesale prices were listed and some increased retail prices immediately. At that time the new retail price order had not been announced. The price charged for bacon yesterday was 2s 2’d or 2s 3d per lb. according to quality, and the price of ham was 3s 6d per lb.
