ON KINDNESS
Sir,—Two movements of infinite advantage to the national welfare, during the first week in October engage the attention of kindly disposed people. I refer to the “health camp movement” and the ."world-xviac animal welfare organisations. The “health camp movement” is celebrating its 21st birthday on October 3 and is appealing for increased sales oi “health postage stamps.” The “world dv. for animals” is October 4, the day dedicated to St. Francis of Assisi (1182-1226), and the “combined anima! welfare organisations” are asking for kindly thoughts and encouragement of kindness to our animals. The two movements are very closely associated with children. Every child should b' taugh J kindness to animals, and in association with the domestic cat 3Dd the dog learn kindness which will pav big dividends in future happiness and friendly natures of the peoples of the world.—Yours, etc., R. T. WILLAN. September 30, 1949.
