CHILDREN’S DEATHS IN AUSTRALIA
SHIPPING AGENTS REPLY TO CRITICISM (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, September 7. The agents for ships chartered by the International Refugee Organisation have denied reports that child migrants have been undernourished on the voyage to Australia. A representative of the American Trading Company, agents for three vessels which recently brought migrants to Australia, said that the food for these ships came from Australia. It included fresh fruit, green vegetables, butter. and condensed milk He said that the migrants received plenty of food. «, Mr A. W. Archbold. Sydney manager for H. C. Sleigh. Ltd., said it was •terribly unjustified” and “a develish lot of nonsense" to blame the ships which brought them to Australia for the deaths of child migrants.
