In spite of the 20 per cent, tariff duty and the 25 per cent, exchange, large shipments of insulators from Temuka were selling on the Australian market in successful competition with oversea makes, and a -Shipment of 200,000 had just been loaded on the s.s Wellpark at Timaru. The large quantities of high-voltage insulators being sold in open competition on the world markets was a complete answer to the assertion that insulators of the required standard could not be made in New Zealand. No imported materials were used, said the manager.
