TUBERCULOSIS SERVICES
EXTENSION PLAN APPROVED
Proposals by the North Canterbury Hospital Board for an extension of tuberculosis services in Christchurch have been approved by the Department of Health, and Dr. I. C. MacIntyre, at present medical director of the Christchurch Chest Hospital, will be appointed director of tuberculosis at the salary rate of a principal specialist under the Hospital Employment Regulations.
. The board will advertise for a senior specialist to assist the director, and the department's approval means also that a junior specialist and a registrar will be appointed.
Tire extension is necessary because of the establishment of a ’mass radiography service, and because Dr. MacIntyre s duties have been extended to cover tuberculosis cases in the Christchurch Hospital.
