SMALL BOY AWARDED £4127 DAMAGES

KNOCKED DOWN BY TRAM (New Zealand Press Association.) WELLINGTON, August 9. A boy who was knocked down and injured by a tram in July of last year was awarded £4127 damages in- the Supreme Court to-day. The case was heard by Mr Justice Hutchison and a jury. The boy, Errol David Butts, is now aged four. Through his father, Percules George Butts, he claimed £5630 damages from the Wellington City Corporation. T Dr. O. C. Mazengarb, K.C., and Mr L. G. Rose, appeared for the plaintiff and Mr F. H. Jones for the defendant. The accident happened in Park road, Miramar. The Court was told that the boy had recovered from most of the injuries but that it was unlikely all functions of the body would be restored. In a rider the jury recommended that in the event of an accident where personal injury occurred the vehicle should be taken out of service at once and examined and a special report made.
