AUSTRALIANS TO VISIT N.Z. FIXTURES MADE BY COUNCIL An Australian team of skiers consisting of 10 competitors and about 10 supporters will arrive in New Zealand on September 6. The president of the Ski Council of Federated Mountain Clubs of New Zealand (Mr R. Syme) announced this at the annual conference of the federation in Christchurch on Saturday morning. The team would go straight tq, Queenstown for a South Island contest, Mr Syme. The test fixture—the first since 1938—would be held at Ruapehu before the New Zealand championships. The test and the championships would cover the period between September 23 and October 2. The Australians would leave New Zealand on October 7. The first Canterbury championships will be held at Arthurs Pass in August, said Mr Syme. The council had approved the application of the Christchurch Ski Club. The council had also approved an application by the Canterbury Winter Sports Club to hold centennial ski championships next year in August or September at Mount Cheesman.
