MR D. CRESSWELL’S COMMENT Minutes showing that Mr Douglas Cresswell (Chairman of the Mount Herbert County Council) attended the local bodies’ meeting of May 26, 1948, when approval was unanimously expressed of the principle of the • remodelling and extending of the Canterbury Museum as a permanent centennial memorial were quoted by the 3 layor of Christchurch E. H. Andrews). Mr Cresswell said yesterday 'hat while he agreed in principle with the museum as a memorial neither he nor any other delegate to the conference had the power to bind their organisations. Delegates were asked to obtai . the reactions of their bodies and to be ready to meet again. A year, had passed and local bodies were still waiting for another meeting.
