TWO HONORARY DOCTORS
UNIVERSITY DEGREES TO BE CONFERRED (Neip Zealand Press Association.) DUNEDIN. May 5. An unusual feature of the capping ceremony of the University of Otago next Tuesday will be the conferring on two distinguished men of honorary doctorates of the University of New Zealand. The degrees will be conferred by the Pro-Qhanceller of the university (Mr L. J. Wild) on Lord Bevendge and Dr. Patrick Marshall. The hoaDrary degree of-Doctor of Literature for Lord Beveridge will, of course, be conferred in absent#. Lord Beveridge lias writen a letter tnank* ing the university for the honour, and parts of his letter will be read at the ceremony by the Chancellor of tne University of Otago (Dr. D. C. Herron). . Dr. Marshall, who is to-receive the Doctorate of Science, is a former Professor of Geology at the University 0‘ Otago. He held the chair from 1908 until he resigned in 1916 to become headmaster of Wanganui College. will come from Wellington to receive the degree.
