SWIMMING
ST. MARY’S COLLEGE
The St. Mary’s College swimming sports were held in good conditions. Gloria Poore, a promising swimmer, won both the Armstrong Memorial Cup for the senior championship, and the Madden Cup for the senior dive. The runner-up in both was Joan McCormick. The Herbert Smith Trust Cup for the intermediate championship was won by Joan Blazey and the runner-up was Margaret Savill. The junior cup, presented by Mrs Quirk, went to Janet Eales. The runnerup was Ngaire Lagan. The beginners’ cup was won by Diane Morel, with Mary Lloyd runner-up.
