SABOTAGE CLAIM DENIED

N.Z. YACHTSMEN BACK FROM AUSTRALIA (P.A.) AUCKLAND. February 28. “No menAber of the Takiri’s crew or any other New Zealand yachtsmen ever suggested to the Sydney newspapers that the Auckland yacht had been sabotaged.” said Mr D. H. Skelton, manager of the New Zealand crews on nis return in the Aorangi to-day. The Takiri’s spinnaker halyards carried away in the second 18-footer championship race on Sydney Harbour. Mr Skelton’s statement was supported by V. Speight, skipper of the Takiri, who said the mishap occurred because the sisal rope used for the halyards waf not strong enough. “I heard a lot of Australians say the Takiri was the finest 18-footer they had ever seen,” said Mr Skelton. He added that some Australian yachtsmen were planning a drastic change of sail-plan to conform with the taller and more scientific rig of the Takiri.
