NEW BRIGHTON WINS NELSON SHIELD "The Press” Special Service AUCKLAND, February 27. There was a close finish for the Nelson Shield in the «New Zealand surf lifesaving championships completed at Waipj this afternoon. The Nelson Shield tor the senior rescue and. resuscitation championship was won by New Brighton, 72.25 points The second team was Maranui, 72.20 points. The senior beltman’s championship was won by J. Clark, of Maranui, who had won the title twice before. Results were:— Senior Events March past: Maranui 1, South New Brighton 2, Lyall Bay 3. Four-man alarm championship: Waitemata, 64.5, 1; New Brighton, 63.46, 2; Island Bay, 61.11, 3; Beltihan’s championship: J. Clark (Maranui) 1, N. Chambers (New Brighton) 2, C.
