AUSTRALIANS’ TOUR ENDS

BRILLIANT DISPLAY BY PATTERSON (P*A.) AUCKLAND, February 27 The Australian cyclists. S. Patterson and K. Reynolds, finished their tour of New Zealand on a high note by their domination of the Auckland centre carnival held in their honour at the Western Springs stadium yesterday. Patterson demonstrated his superior class by beating the national half-mile grass track champion, E. D. G. Hughes by a length, after being two lengths behind with 200 yards to go. In a special tandem paced mile, Patterson recorded . his best time of the tour with figures of 12.6 sec for the final 22C yards. In the five miles race, Patterson had to retire because of a puncture, his first of the tour; and Reynolds, who had previously finished second to Patterson, went on to win.
