SOUTH CANTERBURY TOURNAMENT TROPHIES PRESENTED From Our Own Reporter TIMARU, February 25. The annual tournament of the South Canterbury Croquet Association concluded this afternoon. Trophies were presented by Mrs I. Hitch, a member of the Aorangi Club since its foundation in 1914. at a ceremony presided over by Mrs H. Allchurch, president of the South Canterbury Association. The trophy for the dpen title went agafn to W. H. Kirk, Geraldine, president of the New Zealand Croquet Council. Mr Kirk's daughter won the B grade championship. Two West Coast sisters. Mrs J. Jones and Mrs W. McHerron, Westport, gained three trophies between them. The prize-list for the tournament is as follows:—Open championship (Hart Cup): W. H. Kirk (Geraldine); runner-up, H. N. Darby (Aorangi). Women’s championship (Cullman Cup): Mrs J. Jones (Westport); runner-up, Mrs R. H. Clark (Tainui). Level singles (Kirk Cup): Mrs McHerron (Westport); runner-up, Mrs Jones (Westport). B grade championship (Holdgate rose bowl): Miss Rosemary Kirk (Geraldine); runner-up, Mrs B. G. Reynolds (United). C grade championship (Foxon Cup): A. Hathaway (Aorangi); runner-up. E. Paterson (St. Paul’s, Waimate). Championship doubles: Mesdames L. Stockdale and H. J. French (United); runners-up, Mesdames G. Metcalf (St. Clair) and D. Austin (Punga, Dunedin). Senior handicap singles (Taylor rose bowl): Mrs J. Jones (Westport); runnerup, Mrs F. Scot (Allenton). Junior handicap singles: E. Paterson (St. Paul’s); runner-up, Mrs B. G. Reynolds (United). Senior handicap doubles: Mesdames G. Metcalf (St. Clair) and A. J. Kennedy (Geraldine): runners-up, Mesdames G. Bridges and M. Savin (Timaru). Junior handicap doubles: Miss Rosemary Kirk (Geraldine) and R. H. Clark (Dunedin Men's Club); runners-up, Mrs Milne (Methven) and A. Hathaway (Aorangi). B grade button; Miss Rosemary Kirk (Geraldine)./ The results of concluding matches today were:—Women’s championship, second life: Mrs R. H. Clark (Tainui) beat Mrs D. Austin (Ptinga), 26-14. In the final of the event. Mrs J. Jones (Westport) beat Mrs R. H. Clark (Tainui), 26-19.
