OBITUARY
MR C. H. MITCHELL (P.A.) WELLINGTON, February 24. The death occurred in Wellington this morning of Mr Cyril Hawthorn Mitchell, for many years a leading architect in New Zealand, and designer of many well-known buildings. Mr Mitchell was born in Wellington in 1891. He was educated at Wellington College, and began his professional career in Wellington in 1909, with the firm of Atkins and Bacon. Mr Mitchell was taken into partnership in 1919, the firm then being known as Atkins and Mitchell. About 1931. the firm became known as Mitchell and Mitchell, when Mr A. H. Mitchell, a brother of Mr C. H. Mitchell, became his partner. Mr C. H. Mitchell was responsible for the design of banking premises throughout New Zealand for the Bank of Australasia and the National Bank of New Zealand. He is survived by his widow ahd two children.
