AIRFIELD FOR VISIT OF SKYMASTER
MAYOR TO WRITE TO MR FRASER The granting of permission for a Skymaster aircraft to land at Harewood next week is to be urged 6n the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser) by the Mayor (Mr E. H. Andrews). The present .arrangement is that the Skymaster. which is taking home a party of United States scientists, will use the R.N.Z.A.F. Station, Wigram, on March 3 next. » Aircraft almost as big as Skymasters had landed at Harewood in the past, Mr Andrews said yesterday. Mr Andrews’s letter will emphasise to Mr Fraser the desirability of important visitors using the city’s airport at Harewood rather than a military one. He made special reference to the recent visit by Mr R. A. Eden, in which Wigram was used, although Mr Eden’s aircraft was a Dove, which could easily have used Harewood.
