From Our Own Reporter TIMARU, February 24. When the rain eased off at the Hermitage at noon to-day, about 15 inches had fallen. Creeks and streams are now dropping quickly. Passengers in the Christchurch bus who were unable to get through yesterday because of the flooded road between Lake Pukaki and the Hermitage, and who spent the night at Fairlie, reached the Hermitage this afternoon. At a stream known as the Worryline, the passengers were transferred to the Ball Hut nus which brought 30 passengers from the Hermitage for Christchurch and Timaru. It was expected tffat regular buses from Christchurch, Timaru, and Queenstown would be able to reach the Hermitage to-day. It was reported this afternoon that the level of the Rangitoto river had fallen three feet since this morning.
