STOWAWAY RESCUED ON POLISH SHIP
JOURNEY FROM DANZIG TO MANCHESTER (Rec. 9.30 p.m.) LONDON, Feb. 23. Hearing tappings. Manchester dockers worked for six hours to rescue a bearded and almost unconscious stowaway, believed to be a Pole, from the hold of a timber-laden ship which arrived from Danzig yesterday. Tappings were first heard after the ship had passed Kiel, but they became weaker each day. The man was found in a pocket, with only a few inches in which to move, between a bulkhead and timber. Reuter says he must have been there at least 14 days.
