INFORMATION, PLEASE
Sir, —Our ignorance remains intact when scientists inform us that all things are composed of energy, as we don’t know what energy is and didn’t know even before we adopted a 40hour week. Happiness is a very desirable happening when it happens; and although all statesmen state that it is an affair of the State, it appears more like a state of affairs. Perhaps the congress of scientists could tell us whether happiness happens accidentally or is premeditated. And is it dependent upon or independent of comfort? And can its happening be increased in frequency and duration by knowledge? Wisdom can comfort or otherwise. What is it composed of? Energy, or a 40-hour week?—Yours, jetc., H. J. BUTTLE. Darfield, February 20, 1949.
