CRICHTON COBBERS’ BAND
The Crichton Cobbers’ Band returned home on Tuesday after making its first appearance as a B Grade band at the New Zealand band contest. The chief judge Mr A. H. Bailie, of Australia, praised the band highly, especially for its hymn playing. Out of more than 30 competitors, including all the A grade bands, the Crichton Cobbers’ 3and gained fifth place. Mr Bailie said that the performances of the first six bands had been astounding. In the quickstep display the band gained 117 points for music, only six points behind the fir® band, and was third in the test aggregate.
