CASE CHARGE DISPUTE
ARBITRATION TERMS ACCEPTED
TRIBUNAL TO MEDIATE BETWEEN PARTIES (P.A.) WELLINGTON. February 22. After a meeting with “a high Government official” last night, the fruit and vegetable growers had agreed to certain terms for a tribunal to adjudicate in the dispute between the growers and the retailers over container charges, said the Dominion president of Commercial Growers of New Zealand (Mr B. V. Cooksley). in a statement to-day on behalf of the growers. .He added that the growers had agreed to pay container charges tn the meantime. For the retailers, the secretary of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Federation of Retail Fruiterers and Greengrocers (Mr S. Chesney) confirmed the acceptance of a tribunal, which would sit in Wellington on Monday. He added that the retailers’ terms, asking that the tribunal comprise three members—a Supreme Court Judge 'or a King’s Counsel, and assessors from either side —had been accepted. NORMAL BUYING IN CHRISTCHURCH Christchurch fruiterers and greengrocers resumed their normal buying in the city markets yesterday morning. The boycott on fruit and vegetables in containers on which charges were payable was lifted late yesterday morning after an announcement that the dispute was to be referred to a tribunal.
