WEST INDIES BEAT CEYLON
CEYLON. February 21. West Indies won the first test against Ceylon by an innings and 22 runs. Prior Jones, the West Indies fast bowler, caused havoc among Ceylon’s batsmen. He took six wickets for 23 to-day. Rodrigo and Gunasekera made a fifth wicket stand of 117. Jones broke the partnership and then dismissed the rest of the side. Scores: Ceylon, first innings 122: second innings, 318 (Rodrigo 135 not out, Gunasekera 72). West Indies, first innings, two for 462 (declared).
