POWER FAILURE

Sir, —On February 15, the Coopers Creek and View Hill power failed. The North Canterbury Power Board was notified, a man was sent up, and power came on at Coopers Creek at six thirty. But he returned to Rangiora without ringing the dairy farmers of Viewhill,, to see how they fared. He had to be sent for again, and the five dairy farmers had to leave their 150 cows till next morning. The power did not come on till midnight. Now, I think when a man is sent for he should ring to see if the power is on.—Yours, etc.. February 16, 1949. [“The power outage was reported from Coopers Creek and the serviceman, before leaving the district, checked up to make sure that full power was restored there,” said the en-gineer-secretary of the North Canterbury Electric Power Board (Mr A. Buckingham). “Had any View Hill consumers reported trouble, their cases would have been checked also. Consumers such as dairy farmers requiring power urgently should report outages direct to the board’s office as soon as possible.”]
