REYNOLDS BEATEN BY STONEX
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, February 22. The defeat of the Australian cyclist. Keith Reynolds, by the New Zealand representative at the world championship last year, A. W. Stonex, was the sensation of a night meeting conducted by the Auckland Cycling Centre for Reynolds and his fellow Australian, Sid Patterson. Stonex won the sprint from Reynolds by inches in 14.4 sec for the final 220 yards.
Patterson proved outstanding, winning all six events in which he competed. In the mile handicap he appeared to be in a hopeless position behind Reynolds and F. T. Tredrea, the New Zealand 10 mile champion, but his powerful sprint, from the home banking took him to the front just before the line.
